Homemade Baby Butter

I love almond oil and almond butter for babies, it’s such a great oil because it plumps up skin cells (great for anti-aging too).  I also enjoy apricot kernel oil, as I find both of these to be super softening.  Shea butter is a staple for all baby care, and cocoa adds a thicker moisture along with beeswax to seal the deal and seal it all in.  Coconut oil is good for everything so I had to throw some of that in there too.

It’s nowhere near perfect yet, I find it a bit too hard actually, but it melts super fast into the skin to the point of being almost watery wet.  Once on and rubbed in it’s fantastic, though.  You will have a bit of a greasy baby on your hands, be careful.  It’s soo softening on their skin, though.

Baby Butter:

  • A small chunk of cocoa butter, maybe 1tbsp
  • Maybe 1tbsp shea butter
  • 1tbsp coconut butter/oil
  • 1 tbsp sweet almond butter
  • 1tbsp sweet almond oil
  • 1tbsp apricot kernel oil
  • 1/2 tbsp beeswax
  • Few drops vitamin E oil

Melt all except the vitamin E oil together in a double boiler over the stove.  Take it off, let it cool just a bit, stir in vitamin E oil.  Pour into a clean container of choice and put it in the freezer to harden.  Ready for a couple of hours.  Spread on to the baby (preferably on wet skin after the shower or bath to lock in moisture).  Towel dry off the excess and voila!  Ridiculously soft babe.
