SPDMOM: Time flies when your on the spectrum.....

I am always amazed at how long its been since I have written in this blog.. like it felt like a long time, but not until I saw the date did I realize it had been a LONG time.. Well, we started our behavior therapy for Tommy.. or you could call it wrap around services. The interviewer (case manager per say), comes to the home to meet him, and ask some questions, goals we would like to achieve, etc.. And then we met his mobile therapist last week. This friday Tommy will meet with him at the home.. he is a, "therapist," as well.. will work with Tommy on behaviors he cannot seem to control, like his temper, destruction, prompting, and some sensory. Overall Tommy has been doing quite well, but we just need a bit more, "help." As I have said before, the social stories seem to work well, as do books from the library on behavior.. I am talking picture books.. easy to read to them, and easy to understand for them. Our oldest has been suffering from severe anxiety at night.. unable to fall asleep, even with the melatonin. He worries about everything.. and seems as though these worries culminate when his head hits the pillow.. which sleep issues are typical for kids on the spectrum. We always stick to a bedtime routine, and he must start to unwind around 6:30pm or so, as he goes to bed at 8pm.. so no video games or computer... and no "hyper" tv shows either.. Had a 504 meeting at the school for him as well last week... and ww will re-evaluate him, as well as have an autistic team come in to observe how he functions socially at school. Chris will also be involved again in another social skills group, and have some accommodations made for visual perception issues, sensory, etc.. All and all it has been a good few weeks. Hubby landed a job, so that is GREAT.. enjoying the leaves and looking forward to, "Candy Day." I just love raiding my kids' halloween bags..
(Is that wrong?)
